Solved Recover Vista user Account on Windows 7 OS

I had a laptop (HP DV9000) w/Vista OS that apparently overheated. I removed the Harddrive drive and through USB adapter cables connected it to my laptop w/Windows 7. I then could access the harddrive but noticed that a User account was missing. Does anyone have suggestions on how to recover the missing user account and if I can expect to recover that user's files? Can the fix be done while using the hard dive on the USB port and under Windows 7 or do I need to have the Drive become the boot drive and used Vista that's installed on that drive? Thanks in advance.

You can use Shadow Explorer to recover what is missing. The only requirement is that the old user copies must be on the hard drive that you are using

Thanks Richard for the fast reply. I did download shadow explorer however either I did not know how to set it up or it wasn't working. No files or drives appeared in the work area.

I did however stumble upon the solution. Somehow the missing User folder got marked as hidden. I was able to unhide it and life is good again. All files were intact and now copied and safe.
