system failure iminent please back up and repair/replace hdd drive
hi, can some one plz help me i have been getting this error message at boot up "system failure iminent please back up and repair/ replace drive" i have reinstalled windows and the message stopped but it has returned after automatic update installed some updates i have backed up my data but i have no idea what to do about the hdd error

Hello Tracey, and welcome to Vista Forums.
It means that your hard drive is about to die, and that you will need to backup anything that you do not want to lose and replace the hard drive.
Before you do, you would need to
create a set of emachines recovery discs to be able to boot from and do a factory recovery of Vista on the new HDD with.

i have already created emachines recovery discs but when i am trying to reinstall from them i am getting a message saying that the installation could not be completed, i think this is due to a scratch on the disc, is there anyway i can copy the info from that disc onto a new one?

Yep, the scratch on the disc would be a strong possibility for why it's not working.
Are you able to create a new set of recovery discs on new DVDs?
