Hello and thank you for reading. I need a bit of help.
I accidentally caused my laptop to start a system restore. I was looking at the options because I was intending to start the restore later tonight but I had not yet backed up my data. I didn't realize that clicking factory restore would just automatically shut down everything and start the process, but that's what happened. When I saw everything closing I yanked the battery out of my laptop and pulled the power. When I booted it next, it's giving me "Windows is loading files" and I don't think it normally does that so I'm thinking it's trying to start the restore. When I saw this I immediately shut it off again.
I am not ready to restore I would like to access my data first. Hopefully there is an easy way to stop the process since I cut it off so fast and I know it hasn't deleted anything yet. I do have an android tablet I can mount if that will help, or maybe there's a simple F-key command to go to safe mode boot?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. I'm running Vista Basic on a Compaq Presario laptop on a wifi home network.
