The system cannot find the specified file. (0x80070002)

Hello,

I've been trying to run a backup in Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2 on and HP Pavilion dv6t-1200 Laptop. I've been trying to use DVDs for the back up. The backup creates a shadow copy and starts backing up, but after a certain point it fails and I get "The system cannot find the specified file. (0x80070002)". I've been googling and can't seem to find an answer.

Things I've tried:

  1. Chkdsk c: No problems found
  2. sfc /scanow. Only gets 1 percent done and I get "windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation":(
  3. Virus scan. Ran malwarebytes and removed infected adware, but problem still persists
  4. Check the profile image path. Seems to be brought up as a common resolution for some people, but doesn't really apply to me.
  5. Run Microsoft Fix it 50202. Didn't fix anything and probably doesn't apply to me because my problem doesn't have to do with an update.
  6. System Restore. Apparently I have no restore points.
Thinking of just restoring to factory settings, unless someone can help me. Thank you in advance.
