Hi,
I have a HP laptop with Vista ultimate 64-bit and I recentlybacked up most of my files to an external hard drive. I then recovered tofactory settings.
However some of the files on my external hard drive cannotbe viewed at all.
For instance a word document would not open and have the followingmessage “word cannot open the document:user does not have access privileges”
For a photo the following comes up “photo gallery can’t openthis picture because you do not have permission to access the file location”
This does not occur for all of my files, only specific oneswhich are worded in green.
If I try to send them from the external hard drive to thelaptop it will not allow me and the following message comes up “you needpermission to perform this action” and I can only choose ‘try again’ to noavail or ‘cancel’.
I just wanted to ask can anyone on this forum help me out please. Is there a way that I can view these files anymore or are they lost forever?
Thank you in advance
