.dat files always open with note pad

i have some .dat files that are parts of some maps i use, some how i have alleocated them to open with note pad, now the program i use to open the maps does not see the files any more

how can i unattached the files from opening by default with note pad

Hello Combat Goofwing,

Downloading and merging the dat option in the tutorial below should be able to fix this for you. It will restore the default associations for the dat file extension.
