Ok I have a jailbroken iPod touch, and I like to put tv show episodes on it, but iTunes frankly sucks. So I use a nifty little program called iPhone Folders to transfer the converted videos directly onto the filesystem of my device. I then use a separate video app to watch them. (Mobile Theater; it's a jailbreak app. I know this isn't an iPod forum so just trust me that this whole process works fine.)
iPhone Folders basically just lets me use my iPod as a removable storage device (like a flash drive) and I can just drag and drop, or copy/paste them right onto it, and it gives me the default Windows Vista copying manager or whatever. See the pic, it's just a generic one off the internet so you know what I'm talking about. Not mine.
So here's the issue: I can't get consistent transfer speeds. On average, it starts transferring at about 5 meg/sec (usually seven-ish files, 500-600 meg total; it varies) and ends up pushing 1 meg/sec. I had several theories as to why this happens: as I approach the limit of the capacity of my iPod (I just pick enough files to fill up the rest of my free space) it slows down due to some weird write process, it slows after x number of files it transfers, or that my system resources aren't sufficient (CPU, RAM, etc.). But yesterday these all got blown away. I transferred some files like usual, while doing a complete scan with McAfee Anti-Virus. And got speeds in excess of 15 meg/sec throughout the entire transfer. So basically, my question is if there's any way I can ensure consistent (HIGH) transfer speeds. Anyone got a tutorial or something? I've got TeraCopy, but it doesn't use it for these transfers for some reason. I think if there's a way to max them out for normal copying etc. on my hard drive it should apply to this situation as well.
Thanks for any ideas!
