access denied recovered HDD

I had a laptop which had a faulty motherboard.
I recovered the HDD and placed it in a USB/housing from conrad electronics.

Now when I try to access the documents folder I get an "access denied" error. Is there a way to recover my documents inside the documents folder?

any help is welcome...

When I open the properties I do not see the "security" tab.
Maybe this is because the HDD was from a vista OS and I have a XP system here?

Is there a workaround or do I have to try the same on a vista system?
