cannot access anything that will let me change my password

I am a Vista Home Premium user and nothing so far has helped me fix this issue. I cannot access anything that will let me change my password. Is there a way for me to change this without creating a brand new administrator account? i have a lot saved on my old one (the one i cant make a password for).

I don't know how to access safe mode, and the other options didn't seem to work. I'm at a loss here.

Before I try this, is this safe to attempt? I don't want to lose anything from my user account.

Safe mode if done correctly does not cause problems. All it does is allow windows to load with a minimum of software and drivers. Be sure that you know how to go back to normal mode.
There can not of course be a 100% guarnatee with anything. But this is considered very safe.

Hi DragonGirl

You can try to change your password with one of the following executables.
Use ResetPW32.exe if you have a 32 Bit system.
or use ResetPW64.exe if you have a 64 Bit system.
