Shortcut Document Problems

I am trying to open a document that I downloaded from my e-mail (I clicked save but did not click save as) so it was saved as a temporary file only!
I located that temporary file but it will not open saying it was incorrectly decoded
I also located the file shortcut itself in my roaming folder but it gives me this message:
The Item xxxxx that
this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no
longer work properly. Do you want to delete this shortcut?
I need to locate the modified file because it is of utmost importance, what can I do?

Hopefully not a big problem. Go to search by the windows start button. Type the name of the document and maybe it will be located.

I did try that but the same message comes up! Thank you!

Give this one a try. Dowload and try shadow explorer. It may be able to go back to the point that you had the email.

Have you checked to make sure nothing is in the recycle bin?
Original still on the email server?
