SD card reader has stopped working

PLEASE can someone help? I am tearing my hair out. I have an HP Pavillion on Windows Vista Home Premium. My SD card reader worked perfectly and I was enjoying syncing a load of music to the SD card for a new micro stereo.

All worked fine one day, the next it all stopped! My SD card reader will not read any SD card that I have. The green light appears and stays on when card is inserted but nothing, if I click on the drive from My Computer is asks me to insert the device, which is inserted! It then freezes and I need to use CAD to get out of screen.

I have read the forum topics of a similar nature and tried the un-installing via device manager.. this failed to make anything to work.

I am so frustrated as everything was working so well! Can any one help? Simple instructions please!!!!!

Mine seems to attract any dust particle from as far away as the next planet.

Have you checked yours for dust ?

I would suggested gently blowing into it from the side. Not compressed air.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

First plug the SD card into the socket. Then click your start button and then click on computers and see if it brings up the SD card, let me know if this works or not..

If it just happened either try system restore or go to a download site and get a fresh driver.

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
