It would help us if you could give the following info:-
  What is the Make & Model Number of Your Computer?
E.g. Dell 1545 Laptop,……… HP SR5019UK PC……………
What were you doing at the time?
What have you done to try and fix the problem?
sfc scan, system restore, clean boot ?
Please tell us more information so that we are able to assist you better in fixing the problem.

I don't have first hand experience of solving this problem.

Thanks for directing me to that page by Raymond; it looked very promising - the instructions were clear, detailed and seemed reasonable, if not for the faint hearted. So I pursued it to the bitter end. It didn't work!:confused:

I fear you are right but I am not prepared to go as far as an install; it just isn't worth it. My computer is stable and working fine so I am giving up on this.:pMany thanks to you all for trying to help, but as far as I am concerned I leave you with this quote from the Tweak Guides Tweaking Companion (www.tweakguides.com) by Koroush Ghazi, a book I strongly recommend:

"Turn Windows'Features On or Off. By making sure you have only the features you need, you can save a bit of disk space, but by the same token if you strip out functionality from Windows which you may need later, it can be an inconvenience. You will need to take your time going through these features and carefully deciding if you really need them. If in doubt, do not remove or alter a feature as it is not necessary and could cause more problems than any benefits you experience."
