Solved Copy and Install O/S

I'm using an Acer 4620 and I love this thing. Had it since 06 and it's always been fast for me. Besides a bad battery and failing hard drive it's been a great computer. I picked up a bug and it messed up my files. I already had all of my files I didn't want to loose on an external drive so I didn't have to worry about that. I decided to wipe out my drive and start fresh. The problem with that is now I have no o/s and no disk to install it. My sister has an identical computer and I think I can just copy some files and install what I need to get up and running. What would I need exactly? Is this my best bet? Thanks for any help!

Hello Redneckabbott , Welcome to the forum.

As your OS is gone with old hard drive. at this stage you need to perform a clean OS installation. to perform this process you need to keep a OS installation disk with key no. you must have to keep all drivers cd to install drivers in your system after OS installation. The software thereafter needed depends upon you that what you need or what not.

You cannot copy and paste OS from the similar system. These links may help you in Clean installation or Reinstalltion of OS.
