CMD.exe doesn't recognize commands anymore

Hello,

My CMD doesn't recognize commands anymore, so could someone please tell me how to fix it?

Sounds like a virus or malware
Make a full anti virus scan
Download and make a full scan with malwarebytes.

Could you give us some more details on what you mean?

What happens when you use a command?

Is it giving you any error messages, and if so, what?

I know MBAM, but I don't think I've a virus/malware, I'm using Norton 360 2011, legal.

@Brink: For example the call command - if I don't run a batch file as Admin, it doesn't PAUSE, but just EXIT-:

Try C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe

When I tried the same code, using CMD (so not a batch file), I got the same result.

Do you have the file autoexec.nt in your c:/windows/system32 directory ?

Try other commands.

type help

if this works then we can get to the cause.

are you running the cmd window in the same location as the bat file.

to be sure type in dir *.bat

Help works, commands like call -Yes, the batch file is in the right map- and associating a .jar file with JRE doesn't work.

Is the CMD working in safe mode or in cleanboot?

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista

If not try making a new user account and check in new account.

Check it and post your result, then we can go into rootcause.

Tried it, the same result as not in safe mode.

Hello Yves,

You may want check the registry. Look at the following keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Command Processor.

Check if there is any "AutoRun" value in either of the key. If so, delete the "AuoRun" value

(Note: please export the Command Processor key first to back it up).

I found out, that sometimes the command does not work and sometimes it does o.O.
