I am looking for help with Vista and Windows 7 Fax and Scan application.

I am working on an implementation of the wsd scan protocol on a scanner.

I have a documentation for the wsd scan protocol for the scanner side, but I do not have any documentation for the windows side, i.e., for the Vista/Windows 7 Fax and Scan application.

In particular, I would like to know whether it is possible to change the timeout value for the RetrieveImage message. This message times out if no scan data is received in 30secs.
However, for higher resolutions scanner calibration can take longer than 30secs. For this reason I am not able to scan and retrieve the image at 1200dpi.

Other problems I have:

1. Often Windows Fax and Scan freezes. I have to reboot the PC.
2. Often Stop/Start of the WIA service is not relible. I have to reboot the PC.
4. WSD Scan discovery seems to be unrelible. Often when trying to scan a document using Fax and Scan I get a message saying that there is no scanner configured. However, at sturtup the scanner always sends a correct discovery message.

I will be thankful for any help.

I have similar issue about 3), do you have fix this issue?

that is I can not scan image when my scanner reboot up. it shows No Scanners were detetected when I try scan. some discovery message seems no problem.

Unfortunately, we are not getting too much help in this thread...
I have been developing the server (scanner) side of the wsd-scan protocol
I would appreciate if someone could explain and give an example for how to retrieve an image from an ADF – multi page case.
In the ADF case for each page/sheet in the ADF, a RetrieveImageRequest is received from the PC automatically.
If there is no more images, somehow the PC needs to be notified that we have finished scanning.
Your documentation says that in this case the scanner should sends a ClientErrorNoImagesAvailable fault in response to the
RetrieveImageRequest.
Unfortunately this does not work for me. I can see that the pages are scanned from the ADF and sent to the PC automatically-
The progress bar in the Fax and Scan app. on the PC seems to be correct showing Scanning Page: 1, Scanning Page: 2, …. Scanning page: N.
Once page N is scanned, I get yet another RetrieveImageRequest . This is expected. Since there is no more images, I send ClientErrorNoImagesAvailable. Unfortunately, once this fault is sent, the scanner gets immediately the CancelJob message from the PC, followed by the GetScannerElements message. The scanned images are not displayed on the PC.
The following error is displayed by the Fax and Scan application:
A problem prevented the document from being scanned. Please try again,
or for troubleshooting information, see Help and Support or the information that came
With the scanner.

I would be thankful for any help in this matter.
