Ok guys, here is my situation:
My stupid HP computer recently died on me, but luckily I was already in the process of building a new one anyways. That was becuase the GFX card was outdated, the psu was unreliable, and i'm sure everything else was going bad anyways. My plan was to carry over the current hard drive, but little did I know the hard drive's OS was pretty much dead. So, I figured alright the startup files are corrupt (just after windows finished loading, before it even got to the login screen, it BSOD'd). I tried the following ways to fix it:

Starting up in safe mode (still bsod)
Startup Repair (cannot automatically repair itself)
System Restore to an earlier point (still no)
Startup Repair again, several times (no)
Factory restore (ridiculously, still no)

So effectively I've lost all my data on the drive, but I still want to use it.
I had saved my vista install key, so i decided that i'll just try to find a vista install disc, once again realizing how hard that is to find. After finding a torrent of it (not cracked, just a copy of the disk) that worked, I burned the .iso to a DVD and put it in my newly built computer. However, this didn't work either because the BIOS wouldn't detect the disk. It still detects the OS on the original hard drive, as it is still installed.
NOW, finally my question is what do I do? I've come up with some options, but don't know much about any of them:

1 Maybe the disk wasn't burned correctly? BUT how would i know that?
2 Maybe I should wipe the hard drive before installing? BUT how would i do that if it doesn't work in the first place?
3 Maybe it's the order of priority in the SATA ports that's messing everything up? If so, how would i fix it?
4 Something wrong in the BIOS? (doubt it)
5 Maybe it's the torrent that has failed me??? in other words, does anyone have another place to DL the disk or a disk they would be willing to mail to me? i'd happily mail back.

Possible solution: what if i connected the Hard drive to a working computer to delete or install the OS
1) could i do that? 2) how would i do that?

Other observations:
I CANNOT record the blue screen as it's just a flash.
I CANNOT open and close the dvd drive connected to the computer while it's on (i took it out of another with the disk already in)
The DVD drive does not "detect" as a boot thing, and I don't know how to check if it even detects in the first place.

Specifications of the newly built Computer:
MOBO : P7p55d-e PRO
HARD DRIVE: 7200 seagate barracuda w/ 750 GB storage
i5-760 @ 2.8GHz
2x4 GB Gskill RAM @ 1333
850w ThermalTake Powersupply
GTX 560
all the parts work, except the hard drive
If nothing works, i guess i'll just buy another HDD + windows 7
Suggestions, comments? if anyone replies, thank you for your help.
