Solved Accidentally created 2 My Documents Folders

Hi all,

Like the title suggests, I accidentally created two "my Documents" folders. If I delete one, the other also deletes. I believe I did this by setting the default location for "my Videos" to "my Documents" and that somehow created a twin.

If someone could help me out here, that would be great.

Welcome
Why not back up all the stuff you have in my documents. Then delete both document folders. Finally, make a new one and replace your stuff.

hahahaha - I've been having technical issues all day, with programs like Final Cut Pro ... somewhere in my brain I'm thinking a solution is more complicated than it really is. It's such an easy fix - not sure why I didn't think of that. Sigh. Your post just made my evening though - haha :D have a good one!

Re: double documents folder?

Hi ...

This is really embarrassing, as I thought I had figured this out when I posted about this last night. I accidentally made 2 documents folders, backed everything up and deleted them. Then, I downloaded the folder suggested in the link here ... but it keeps making two yellow documents folders! Any ideas of what to do??

It sure did help! Thanks so much - that was some weird stuff trying to restore that folder. It kept creating 2, so I deleted them and rebooted ... then I grabbed one Documents folder from the Recycle Bin and restored it and it's been working fine since! Thanks again for your help - you instructions and guide were really simple and easy to follow - I appreciate it! =)

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
You're most welcome Emelvee. I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted.

As Mike posted above, you are not the first or last that will have this issue. The junctions points used by user folders can cause issues if they are treated like a normal folder instead of a junction point.
