Burned DVDs

I have set up a video and a dvd recorder to transfer videos to dvd they copy fine and can play them back in any dvd play or xp machine but when i put the burned dvd in my vista laptop it just recognises it as a blank dvd even though its not , can anyone help with ideas , cheers

If you have not done a full AV scan lately, would you please do one now.
Also would you download & do full scan of malwarebytes, update before scan

Malwarebytes freeware

Let us know results of scans please.

Sorry i haven't managed to sort your problem thus far.

You have tried the DVD in another computer to see if it os a valid & operative copy?
You have been to dvice manager & clicked on the relevant +signs, to drop down, if necessary to check if the components there are up-to-date? Drivers etc.
Have you played DVD's in your laptop before?
What drivers are there, because nothing in your specs.?

it not a new thing that has just started to happen , they r dvd -rw verbatim discs they work in any xp machine and any dvd player just not on my vista laptop it wont even recognise there is something on the dvd

OK, Lets go back to a basic check list first.
I would like you to do a full AV scan, make sure it is up to date.
Then I would like you to download & do a full scan with malwarebytes.
Be sure to update first.

Let us know the results.
Making sure we have a clean computer to start from OK.

Have you gone to start,default programs and set a program to play the DVD?
Have you told autoplay to play it with your player?
Is your computer reading other dvd, that you didn't burn?

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
