Solved Hyperlink Cancelled due to 'Computer Restrictions'?

Hi Guys & Gals,

This is a new one on me.
As I have been having some trouble with hyperlinks, thought I should check things out and try and determine the apparent intermittent fault/s. Maybe human error!!

Taking the Forums link, copy & paste to a file document all looking good, nice colour blue.

On trying the link I get on screen :- Large red X plus :-

'This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator'.

As the administrator (now), I have not knowingly put restrictions on anything!

Has it been restricted by some introduced security measure, unbeknown to me?
What is the procedure for hyperlink connection, have I got it wrong?
Why this measure just now, never came before.

Your help & assistance would be appreciated as ever.

Please run a full scan with your Anti-Virus

Also Please run a System File checker scan or System Restore

You may also what to see what your Default Programs are

Sounds to me that possibly someother software is stopping this action.
Try in safe mode
If that works try with a clean boot to diagnose and solve

If that does not work, set up another user account and see if the problem is with your user account.

If that does not work try wit another broswer. Firefox or Chrome would be good choices.

Hi Guys,
Report so far. Cannot remember exact order of things, although I would say probably as Shadowjk & Richc's posts advised.

Anti-malwarebytes - Full scan, all clear
Anti- virus - full scan, all clear
sfc - OK, no integrity violations
memtest - ok. (thought it was worth trying)
Default progs. - all set.

(made several cups of tea):D

Default file types checked (as well as I could)
Clean Boot & all that intails.
Guest user account
Google/firefox

Restarted as & when required.

Still not resolved!:huh:

One thing I noticed during the events:-
When attempting to open copied link, both the 'egg timer' & the vertical 'text indicator' -- I had a shadow attached to them. Thought I would mention it.

P.S. time for another 'cuppa'.:D

I obviously do not know where to progress from here, I trust someone has some easy suggestions.

This administrator, basically, has no restrictions. Try it with this administrator, at least for a test
Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Forums[2]=User Accounts
It works the same in Vista

If the secret administrator does not work, it may be an incorrect association.
See if resetting html, to IE does the trick

I think you guy may have cracked it for me.

I tried same thing earlier as admin at Shadowjk's request but it did not work.

This time 'Super' admin, and it may have done the trick.

One last test is to send you a link, if it works it's ok, so keep your fingers crossed. Please!!
