Hi
This little rascal powers on, all the blue lights but no image on screen, and it beeps 4 times.
So I stripped it naked. With the power on the board illuminates as follows:
Blue light in centre of mobo
Green charge light
Green light when power button is pressed (Lasts for approx 5 seconds)
All the blue lights across the power panel
With power the heatsink doesn't run. It was very dirty with a dry white powder residue (possible spillage damage?)
The board looks ok (no visible liquid damage) and it has 2 NVIDIA chips, the larger one having a small burn scald mark on the top.
I am learning all the time with repairs and a novice I guess, but I am aware HP are known for graphic chip issues.....so...
1. Do I buy another MOBO, can I use the several versions I have seen on eBay? Are they all adaptable?
2. Buy a new heatsink and see if that works?
