Windows Vista Inspiron 1420 Slow After Factory Restore

Hi, everyone. I recently restored to its factory condition my laptop which is a Dell Windows Vista. It had been running smoothly before, however it was giving me blue screens.

I restored it and now this computer has been running way too slow. I need to know what I can do to fix this, and why it's going this slow.

Sorry, I don't understand. How does the BSOD make the system move slowly? I was having blue screens before I restored it. I restored it yesterday and haven't had any blue screens so far.

My system's just running slow after the restore I did. I noticed though when I go on Safe Mode, it runs fine; fast. I'm not having the BSOD anymore, just the incredible slowness.

Any help?

Oh, yea, I've restarted several times and each time the system continues to run slow. I also ran a scan from Malwarebytes and it came up with nothing. I thought maybe that could solve the problem but it hasn't,

Also do a system file check.
Go to start type cmd hold ctrl and shift and press enter
Type sfc /scannow in the box that opens
If errors are found reboot and run it again, up to 3 times.

Hello I agree 100% with what ilikefree said. The sfc /scannow will correct a lot of your computer system, when you do this make sure that when you type the sfc, you put a space between the sfc / and the forward slash and then it works best if you don't even click the mouse just let it run until it is done. When it's done if you don't know how we will show you how to up-load the report to us. Thanks again ilikfree great thinking.

K, I've done everything that was advised. After doing the clean boot, I noticed that even without all the service items enabled, and the with the startup items disabled as well, the system continues to run slow. What I did notice was this however.

I restarted with everything disabled that I was told to disable, and I noticed that the sytem seemed to be functioning at its normal quick speed, however, I began to open windows such as Computer, Start, and then the system began to run slowly. At 100% CPU usage and it remained about there, fluctuating up and down between 90%-100%. I actually felt as if the computer had to really focus on the windows I was opening so much so that it began to run slow; I thought this was a graphics problem but I could be wrong.

I then did the sfc /scannow check as well and it told me that it did not find any errors. I have the sfcdetails.txt, is this the report I should post?

It is still slow, and yea, I'd defraged after I restored the computer. Should I use CCleaner two days after I restored? I don't have many files because of the restore...I'll run it :)

Note: I find it very odd that after a restore, the system begins to run slowly...I would think the exact opposite would occur.

Yea, I've done a defrag. I've done it twice actually.
