Just upgraded an old HP laptop (dv9650us) to 4Gb DDR2 from what Windows reported as 2Gb. I don't recall what the BIOS reported.
Now I am looking at the sticks I removed and see that I had upgraded the RAM in this laptop before (mismatched sticks) totalling 3Gb.
Before I formatted to x64 Vista, x86 Vista reported all 4Gb (even though it wasn't using all of it), so I figured that Windows should have reported all 3GB if both DIMMs worked correctly.
Could one of the older DIMMs be bad? I don't have another laptop that supports DDR2 to test...
