Host procces problem

hello,

I didn't know where to post this thread so i'm posting it here, correct me if it is in the wrong place.
well back on-topic, my girlfriend had a problem with her 32bit vista system. A while ago she started getting a problem with her host-procces not working. at the same time windows updates wouldn't update either. So today I tried to have a look at what's wrong but I'm really puzzled here. not sure what could be causing it but if anybody has any information about solving this problem please share with me :D

Here is some information about your problem.
May I suggest that before you begin this process, you try a clean boot and see if a startup program is the cause.

It might be a good idea to run an anti-malware scan. If you can, download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.

If you can't run MBam for some reason, then let's flush the DNS cache and restore MS' original Hosts file.

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad:

echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts

ipconfig /renew

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.

See if you are also able to get Windows updates now.
