I recently obtained a new Windows 7 PC and was able to transfer files from my Dell XPS 410 Windows Vista 32 bit system to it using Windows Easy Transfer and a Belkin transfer cable with no issues. I then tried to transfer files from an older Windows XP system to my Vista machine using Windows Easy Transfer for XP to Vista, but the program dies when the Vista PC recognizes the transfer cable. It appears that the Vista machine automatically goes into a mode where it believes it is the "old" computer that will transfer files, instead of being the PC receiving files.
I assumed that this was because of the easy transfer software loaded on the Vista machine that was previously used for the transfer of files to my Windows 7 system, and assumed that removing the transfer software might solve the problem. However, there appears to be no easy way to remove it as it is part of the operating system on Vista.
Any assistance in sorting this out is appreciated as I am about to throw in the towel and just move everything manually.
