ok i have made a number of improvements to this computer in hopes of speeding it up. understanding that my ram isnt that big in memry im not expecting a rocket like some of u probbly have. however i do think it should be able to buff a song on youtube without pausing 15 times really that many some times. some1 said to make sure im running my moden thru the ethernet instead of the usb. idk what that means. im using broadband internet, i have a small lil box that i plug in21 the usb,m any 1 help me out? ty

you could try a program called namebench 1.3.1
It will run and tell you what to put in the DNS entry of the properties box of TCP.IPV4 section.
To get to this section right click on your network icon in notification section,
go to Network and sharing,click view status,properties.
in the box that opens highlight Internet protocol version 4 (TCP ipv4)
Click on properties and change the preferred DNS server and the Alternative DNS server to what Namebench tells you is the fastest for your connection.

Namebench is an open-sourced DNS benchmarking utility.

If you are asking you should use the Ethernet if you are on cable.

Free version is all you need.

I did not realize you were using wireless as I thought you were on cable broadband. (ethernet)
Microsoft Security Essentials is very good so that should be OK if it is kept up to date.
I'm a bit old and don't understand some of the txt speak people use so I am just guessing that is what you meant.

i think its fitted with 1, all they gave me was this little box to plug in thats it, i think its mainly for laptops on the go

Try plugging the computer directly into the Modem. It will be a plug similar to a phone plug. (no USB)

it is pluged directly in the computer, im not even sure if its a modem, its about the size of a matchbox, cricket broadband is the name
