When using my laptop over the weekend the desktop froze and after restarting the computer I continually get the message,
'A disk error has occurred press Ctrl + Alt + Del'
after the Viao logo appears.

What is the best way to go about solving this problem?

Many thanks.

Thanks Rich but I can't even get past the 'disk read error' message as it comes up straight after the Vaio logo. The most I have been able to do is get in to BIOS, it won't even go in to safe mode.

May be the hard drive. If its gone, hope that you have a back up of your stuff.
Did you get any warnings of Hard Drive failure, such as a clicking sound or poor performance?
