Hi, I am using vista home basic. the shut down, sleep, restart and switch user options have "disappeard" from the start menu. I have run system restore to when I think this happened but it didnt change anything. also in ctrl+alt+del the only option i get is task manager when there was more options before. I am a beginner with computers so any help with this matter would be great

hi thanks for speedy reply. i have tried that and it open a box to save the it gives a security warning and gives the option to run or cancel, when i click run it gives another waring about changing registry editor. do i continue?

Start with a system restore point. Then if you follow the tutorial correctly you will not have any problems.

When you make a restore point you can go back to that point in case of problems
Registry may be changed, when you follow the tutorial. We want a restore point in case things go wrong
Its just smart and the thing to do.
