Vista 64 bogs down in given circumstances

Hey Guys,

I have a vista business x64 dell laptop, the latitude e6500. It's up to date with the lastest updates/service packs. I have 8 gig of rams, intel core duo t9550 @ 2.66ghz. I have this odd issue. Anytime I play video, regardless of the browser, run a cpu intensive app, like nero burn, or even play a pretty heavy duty game, like total war, the cpu pegs on and off at max.

It'll be solid for about the first ten minutes, then peg out and bog down to the point where my mouse will barely move. The performance monitor identifies svchost as the culprit. I do run McAffee, CC cleaner, and Adware and the box comes up clean. If I wait for about 5 minutes, it calms down and goes back to normal. I have tried to run the pc in various configurations through msconfig thinking maybe some service was locking up in the background with no success. Needless to say, I literally can't watch video on my box which is incredibly annoying. Has anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks in advance,
Ryan
