Wow so I'm just gonna go ahead and throw this post out here I'm pretty sure my computer is about to go out or not work or continue to do like I explained so I'm just wondering what would be a good computer for me I just mainly like to do music for example produce music, sing (or atleast try lol) and listen music and ofcourse watch YouTube videos every now and then and as far as range I'm not sure right now but I think it's safe to say in 1000's and up that will be a little much for me I'm no millionare loll and I would like to continue using a laptop. :)

First, I recommend a Microsoft-based PC (or laptop) over other types of computers (like a Mac or Linux) simply because there are more options available and I consider them to be the optimal choice - and consider you are asking this question in a Vista forum where we are admittedly somewhat biased.

If you get a new laptop, then you will surely be getting Windows 7 with it (not Vista). The Home version should be fine - though you may want to add some supplemental programs (many or most of which are free).

If you intend to make audios and watch videos, you'll want to make sure you have a good sound card, a better than average graphics card, a monitor big enough for you to enjoy watching the videos without feeling cramped by a small screen, proper peripherals and/or connectors or adapters to create audios and hear them properly (meaning a good microphone, perhaps external speakers, and whatever else suits your fancy), and as much RAM as you think you might need and are willing to afford. If you intend to store these audio and video files (they can take a great deal of space), consider including a hard drive large enough to accommodate your collection - it's much easier to do this upfront than to convert to one later. They are relatively inexpensive. I can't recommend a specific size as I have no idea how much you intend to store - but you do so simply consider this when selecting.

Personally, I prefer Dell to all other brands (but you will get a considerable variance of opinion on this). Since Dell opened, every computer I've owned has been a Dell. I only recommend Dell to my business clients. I've never been dissatisfied (yes, I have had some problems, but fewer than with other brands) and their service is excellent (but be smart and get the extended warranty plan as the cost of service without one is high and the warranty often comes in quite handy not just for repairs (which they will do at your location instead of you needing to mail it in) but also to get free assistance from their technical support team).

Here is a web page from Dell where I searched for laptops specializing in Multimedia. I'd start there and then explore the options. Dell Laptops & Netbooks | Dell.

If you want a specific recommendation, I'll go out on a limb and start you here with what I would choose given your proposed usage and you can then customize it as you see fit: The Dell Online Store: Build Your System. Yes, it is a little over $1000 (and possibly a bit more if you do much customizing), but not 1000s and it will last you for years and is designed with what you want to do in mind. If it's too expensive, then simply select a different make or model that better suits your budget.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

It sounds like you want a system that is specifically geared toward entertainment rather than business. There are many to choose from, so you have quite a search ahead of you. One of the forums that I find particularly useful because of their "What Notebook Should I Buy?" section is the Notebook Review Forum. When I was thinking about buying a new system this last time around, and considering which computer I wanted to buy, I discovered that forum and found the advice very savvy and helpful. Partially because of their good advice and partially due to my own searching through tons of reviews and recommendations, I chose the HP Pavillion dv5t, which is a great mid-size, mid-price system that is specifically designed for predominantly entertainment use, although of course I can easily do all of my professional work on it as well. Enjoy the search, as it's a lot of fun and you'll learn a lot as you go through it!

As you don't want to spend alot, go with a tri or quad core AMD based system. You can even if priced right, get an x6 cpu and a goid gpu like a 5750, or 5770 if on sale.... Though I'm speaking more of building one up.

There should be ways to run it in Win7... However you can downgrade to Vista just by getting a disk and associated drivers from the manufactuers. Then installing them.

Is there a site where I can buy the disk and do I just download the drivers from the site

May I suggest Windows 7
I had Vista for a year and then switched to 7.
Seven has everything that Vista has, some improved and a lot more
Yes a lot is eye candy, but there is more than that

Yes, I agree your computer is on its last legs; maybe even was on its last legs.
