unable to set up external monitor!

I am attempting to connect me Dell inspiron 1545 to my 42" LG HDTV using a VGA/3RCA Cable.

the first time i plugged it in the desktop showed up but my laptop ran out of battery before i had a chance to plug it in. since i have not had a display on my tv. when plugged in the laptop recognises it but still no display.....

please help its driving me crazy!!!!!

Try hitting fn + f4 It should cycle to the external monitor

Have you tried plugging in the tv before you power up?

There is usually an FN Key + an F# Key that will refresh your Screen For example mine is Fn+F3
