I'm looking to replace our old Digital 8 Sony Handycam with a newer SD Card or HDD camcorder. I was looking at the Sony DCR-SX44 at Best Buy, but Sony's site claims that the supplied software won't work on Vista or 7 (x64) machines. I currently upload our tape videos through firewire onto my Linux Laptop.
I was hoping to find a camera that I could move the files from the camera (either an SD Card or USB (HDD), and burn to DVD from my Vista machine.
Any thoughts? Is it possible to run Sony's software in Compatability Mode to run, or is there a fix to this?
I have a Win7(x64) machine at work that has VirtualXP mode set up, but I would like to be able to upload movies at home, not on my work pc.
Thanks.
