Files burned out of order

Hi,

This is my 1st post here so i'm hoping its in the right place.

I'm burning some shows I downloaded, .avi files and using the drag and drop method. The files are all numbered 1-30 lets say so they are in order but when they are burned and i'm viewing them on my dvd player they are all out of order.

There doesnt seem to be any type of pattern to the #s the way they are burned and i've tried a few different settings like sorting by name, seeing if the file sizes could have made it that way but doesnt seem to be that.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

The files are divx and I only have 1 divx dvd player so I cant really check another dvd player to see if its the player so right now i'm guessing its the burn process.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Debbie and welcome to Vista Forums

Try prefixing the filenames by the relevant file number. For example, if the 15th file is Test it would become 15Test. For files numbered 1-9, add a leading zero so that file 5 becomes 05Name, etc. You might also need to refer to this Tutorial: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/132144-sort-order-numbers-file-folder-names.html to ensure that the files are sorted in the desired order.

Hi,

What menu system are you generating when burning the disk?

Hmm i'm not exactly sure what you mean. All I do is drag my files to the drive and then when it is copied over I click file and burn to disk. I'm not using a copying program so I dont make a menu if thats what you mean.

When you go to play them on your player what do you see?

Do you select the ones you want to play or are they just played in the order they are on the dvd?

Do you have a random selection as a play option on your device?

let us know & I will think some more.

When we put the disk in a menu comes up with the list of titles out of order so you can choose which to play but once one title finishes it goes into the next without going back to the menu.

Hubby checked and there is no random selection option on the player.

Thanks for trying to help me :).

Please upload a picture of the menu listing the file names as you see them on the DVD screen & in your DVD burning software.
