Is there a Freeware product to find what is consuming CPU & causing Disk Thrashing

Hi All

I am wondering is there is a 3rd party or freeware product, that will show me, real time on what programs, resources are causing not only slow CPU useage, but constant hard drive disk access ?

I run Windows Vista Home Premium x 64 and have constant issues with a service, program, ? Constantly accessing my hard drive/ I would love to be able to find out what this process is and "kill" it. It is causing SLOW CPU access. I also run IE 8, I know, I know, but I must be able to keep a weeks worth of History.

Any help, programs, sites, would be appreciated !!!

Download and try process explorer, the best way that I know to find out about CPU.

Try a simple clean boot and see if the problem is any better.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
If something is amiss, it may be downloaded each time you boot; clean boot will let you know.
I do not know of any software that keeps a months records.

I would, also run an antivirus check and download and make a full scan (after updating, with malwarebytes. Maybe, not exactly what your are looking for, but in my opinion the answers to your problem.

For a 24 hour period, or longer, you can type event viewer in search and see what has occurred, but not in the form you like

I use, Win Patrol, free edition. As you use the computer, Scotty the Dog, will bark and ask if you want (a new) program or process to have access. When it is first downloaded you can see what process is considerd to have access already.
