Solved Popup message from Start Menu

1. I have 12 items in my Start Menu.( see screenshot)
2. A while ago, while experimenting "adding items to Start Menu", I must had asked the system to add one item too many. Since then, I am receiving this popup message which will appear when I click Start button first time of the day. It may happen again, but only after quite awhile.
3. Too long ago, system restore is out of the question.
4. No idea what were the items I was trying to add .
5. I am on the highest resolution allowed by my laptop... 1280 x 800
Just wonder if I can remove this popup. No big deal.
Note : I had had more than my share of reading essays during my college years. Please no essay-like reply. Thank you.

Find a blank section on the start menu and right click, click properties, start menu, customize,number of recent programs to display. set it for less

As mentioned, I have 12 displayed on Start Menu.

I first set the number to 12. Popup still appears.
Then I lowered it to 10. Same problem.

It will depend on how many you have pinned to the start menu I have 10 pinned

Sorry. Set at 2 absolutely makes no sense to me.
I can't recall how many were there when I bought the computer. But there were at least 13 because I lost Search after SP1, that was about 2 years ago.

I lost Run after disk cleanup. Then only recently I added Run back to the menu.
But I only have 12 pinned.

You are mixing up two different things. Pinned items always show on the start menu. The other is the number of recently used programs to display.These will be under the pinned if you have left room. If not set the number to less or uncheck both boxes in the privacy tab on the properties page from the start menu.
You could also change it in the customize section by unchecking the option to use large icons.

Please look at my screenshot again. Count them. 12 on the right hand side.
I am talking about 12 pinned on my Start menu. Why do you think my screenshot only shows the Start Menu.
Search and Run are part of Start Menu.

Show me the rest of your start menu as that warning is about the left side of your start menu

Yep that is what it is warning you about. I see 17 there,7 recently used (that i can see) and 10 that are pinned to the start menu
Items above that line are pinned the rest you can set how many to show if you follow my earlier posts.

Looks like you have space for up to 6 or 7 but that will depend if you have it set to display recently used folders as well then it will be less.
Got there in the end.:D
