Where can I find sufficient information on the various registry variables used to control the Vista SuperFetch function to check for possible problems in their values and, if necessary, change them?
The help files for Vista Home Premium SP2 barely even mention SuperFetch, and definitely do not contain adequate information on it for my needs (both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version).
The behavior of my three computers suggests some problem with SuperFetch, probably one not fixable by turning it off entirely. It appears to fill the spare memory as expected, but then be much too slow in releasing this memory if something else needs it. I did not do anything known to change these registry values, so I have no idea which if any of them were changed. This ties up over half of the physical memory installed, and the motherboards won't hold any more (now 8 GB on my 64-bit computers, and 4 GB on my 32-bit computer).
I need the names of all these variables, their allowed values, and the purpose of each allowed value. Google searches have turned up very little relevant information.
