reinstalling vista/backup files help

Hi all.

I had issue with a windows and in the end i had to reinstall vista

But thanks to some help from people i managed to save all my information into a "windows.old" folder, i now going to have to it seems install tons of updates ect, but i wondering what is the point of having a windows.old folder??

All i can see is tons and tons of folders but cant see how this useful for me apart from maybe having game saves files /work spreadsheets ect.

What am i ment to do with all these files in my windows.old folder and how can they help me now i have a clean vista?

Here's one reason for Windows.old (and how to use it) for some situations: How to restore a computer to a previous Windows installation after you install Windows Vista.

But since that isn't really applicable here and you've presumably retrieved all your data from it, it can be deleted. Here's how: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/240390-windows-old-folder-delete.html.

cheers, though tbh i cannot see the point restoring to the old windows as i reinstalled vista due to a .sys error as you helped me with in another topic and i guess to restore to the old windows would most likely bring back that error again so i think il try sticking to starting from scratch

atm currently trying to download and install all the updates from the begininning.....
