vista won't recognize my camcorder

I have a canon zr45mc camcorder and when I plug it in to the computer it will not recognize the device. Any help?

hi.. are you trying to connect it through usb port? What does it says.. does it try to install the new device and then fails?

I am connecting it through a usb port and I get nothing. I have tried multiple wires and ports and I still get nothing.
