Windows Vista Hybernates/Won't Wake Up without Unplugging PC and Restarting
That pretty much sums it up. The problem began last week and has gotten progressively worse. My wife would be working and suddenly the screen would go black, as if the computer was going into sleep mode. The power light stays on, but if you try to do a hard shut down (pressing and holding the power button), nothing happens. Finally, I unplugged the computer, waited about a minute and plugged it back in. It starts up fine, you can work on it again, but after awhile the problem starts all over again.
I thought it might be a Windows Update problem, so I tried to do a System Restore to the day prior to the last update, but the restore failed. I then did a Disk Check, which took several hours, and it seemed to resolve the problem. We had no issues all day on Saturday or Sunday, but this morning it started all over again. I'm at my wit's end. If anyone has any idea, they'd be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
