Space in volume C of my windows vista is running out day by day!!!

Hi, This is my first time on this forum.

I have windows vista basic on my dell vostro 1500 laptop. My hard disk was partitioned as C=40 GB, D=40 GB AND E=80 GB.

I have windows in C and almost all other softwares in D, while E is for my own personal data storage and use.

Now my problem is that my C is running out of space (only 1.13 GB left), and I donot know what to do?

Can anyone help me in this regard. I am a complete novice. I will be grateful if somebody can solve my problem in a easy and simple way...

Most likely it is system restore points. If you delete the points (but lose that protection) the space will probalby be regained.

If you turn it off and then on, again. The old points will be deleted.

If i delete the system restore points, then, Well how much space will that provide me with?? Also, there must be some other way with out loosing the protection??

I cannot tell you how much space will be regained. See if this gives any information:
JDiskReport

You can regain space by deleting programs you no longer use.

Depending on how many System restore points you have and the data, But on average 1 Restore point is about 500MB-2GB

Well, all programs are of windows vista i.e OS on "C", So, I dont think it would be good to delete them..It is the auto update of windows vista that is eating up so much memory. but i also feel that the updates are necessary for proper working of my vista...Also, i use almost all programs installed on "D"...Mostly ones related to graphics and website designing etc... I have already uninstalled most of the softwares be4 coming to this forum, and was only able to free about 3 GB, but with the passage of time and windows update, it is again low and only 1.16 GB. ...

Can I some how transfer 10 GB, from the other volumes i.e "D" OR "E"??
