Hi and thank you for taking the time to hopefully helping me.
Every now and then I keep getting the messsage sub spooler stopped working,it states that the HP printer has a problem but I dont even have a HP printer installed on my laptop and never have,I do have a wireless lexmark installed but It doesnt stop me printing.Just this message appears every other week or so.When it appears it does seem to affect my web browsing a little i.e with slow pages and curser drags along the screen.
Ive scoured the net and there are a few cases of this but ive seen that others have a HP printer attached,Ive never seen it where somebody gets the message with a lexmark installed and they can still print. Also im not that tech savvy where im confident enough to start messing with my registry. Is there anything I can do to rectify this problem.I have de-installed and re-installed my lexmark printer driver and still get the message.
Any help would be gratefully received
Many thanks
Hi Shawn, ever so gratefull of your reply and thanks foer the welcome.
I followed the link and got to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS
It shows an allready empty folder,is that right?
I then just went into services as link says and stopped and then just restarted print spooler. Maybe this will work but i cant really tell because i only get the message spooler stopped working every week or two.
But as I said thank you for taking the time out to reply
Yes, it should be empty normally until you print something. Whatever file you are printing is temporarily placed in this folder until the print job is complete, then removed from the folder. If it hangs up or is not removed from this folder like it's suppose to for some reason, then this is when you get this error.
If you get the error again, then the tutorial is to help you to manually empty the folder since something is hung up in there and it's not emptying automatically.
aaahhhhh right im with you,so next time I get the message im to get myself in that folder to see what hasnt been deleted? And if something is there.....get rid!
