Hey guys,
I've been having alot of problems with Vista and 3d applications. I recently bought my girlfriend a laptop
Acer Aspire 7535G
Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit
4GB memory (only 2.5 shows up I guess thats because of the OS)
AMD Turion Ultra x2 (2.2ghz)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
She plays WOW on it but we've been having trouble ever since. We keep encountering this "Slow Motion/ jerky" type lag in game which doesn't seem to disapear no matter how we alter the settings. I've done a hell of alot of reading into it and it seems that most people point to the AMD dual cores and how there optimised to work in the OS. For XP the fix is simple, download the AMD Optimiser and add /USEPMTIMER into the Boot.ini file. However as Vista does not have the Boot.INI file I can't seem to figure out how to implement it. I've downloaded VISTABOOTPRO but theres no guides on how to add the code only use it for things like Dual Boot.
There doesnt seem to be any code in the Windows Boot Loader information about /USEPMTIMER whether I install the AMD Optimiser or not and when it is or isnt installed the problem still occurs ingame.
I've tried
-Adjusting all game settings to minimal and gradually increasing. The only one that has an affect is "Reduce Input Lag" but this drastically reduces FPS and means I have to turn down most settings which I want to avoid doing as i shouldn't have to!.
- Setting the Core AFFINTY to use only single core but this doesn't seem to remove the problem either and makes the game perform just as bad as "Reduce Input Lag"
- Update all latest Vista software through windows update
- download all of the latest drivers for components
- boot in XP Mode
- Try different commands in the games Config file.
None of them seem to work so I'm guessing its purely down to the way that the game and the processor are functioning together.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I would be extremely grateful.
Regards,
James
