Hi. I have a Acer M1641 on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit. 3 GB RAM. Processer is Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.60 GHz.
Well my computer is running normally as usual, then suddenly one day I switch it on, it gets to loading bar and doesn't get past that. It tries to use CHKDSK to scan for the problem and fix it, but no matter how long I leave the computer for (left 11 hours once), it stays at 0%. I tried System Restore, but it could not load any backups without scanning the hard drive for errors 1st (the CHKDSK which of course wouldn't work). I then downloaded Windows Vista onto a DVD, and booted the computer from it to re-install Vista; it said: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." which I have no idea what it means.
When I open system restore, no option to 'Restore from a different point' i.e. a disk/flash drive is there. There is only the option to restore from backups.
PLEASE help in simple terms. I need the computer functioning desperately for my coursework. Thank you.
