Vista starts to freeze after logging in

Hello there. I've been having problems with my laptop for quite some time now. If I start it up normally, it always freezes after some time. It won't matter if I try to do something during that time or not. Also if I just open up a game straight up, it will work just fine, but when I exit it, I can't open anything new. It will just show that loading circle and nothing will happen. It works fine in safe mode.

I have been searching everywhere for a fix, so now I'm trying my luck here. I'll try to give you some information here. I don't know what you will need though.

Welcome

Sounds a bit like a memory problem. When you boot in Safe Mode, you boot only with the essentials; not using as much memory.

Freezes, usually memory problem. But can, also be overheating. Memory loss was a problem with the older versions of Windows but not that common, now. As you use the computer, memory usage increases.

I would suggest a memory test with memtest86
I would also suggest that you check your drivers, to be sure that they are up to date and that no warning indications are apparent in device manager.

Also try a clean boot to determine the potential culprit of the problem

Okay, so I did a clean boot, and.... it seems to be working just fine. I can't try this memtest right now, it's almost half six in the morning, and the program needs to be installed on a CD, and my CDs aren't here.

This is great progress.

So do you have a solution of some sort? Or do I need to run that memtest first?

Also I checked the Device Manager and couldn't find any errors or anything that wasn't up-to-date.

I have Avast! 4.8 Professional edition licensed and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware licensed. Ran both yesterday, found nothing. But I guess I'll do it again, to make sure. Updating them right now, but running them both fully will take a long time.

Im not there, but my guess is what is known as memory loss. The more you use it the more memory disappears and finally you freeze. It comes back when you boot.

Did you do the memtest86? Do it over night run it for a while.

Unfortunately, I couldn't do the memtest because I don't have any empty CDs right now. I just need to go buy some more soon. It's too late for today though.

Or did I miss something essential on the memtest website? From what I saw, you either needed to install it on a CD or a floppy disk to do it.

Try the less precise test. Type memory diagnosis in search. If postive you have a problem. If negative, do memtest86. Run it about 5-7 times.

Navigate to C:\System32\Drivers\ajziw5ag.SYS ... if you don't see it, un-hide hidden files and folders

And upload it to Virus Total to be scanned VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan

This isn't looking good. It seems like this same has started to happen even in safe mode. It has already frozen twice. Also I tried finding the file, but I can't find it. Did you mean C:\windows\system32\drivers\ajziw5ag.sys ? I don't have a system32 folder in C:\.

I have changed the folder settings so I can see all the hidden files ( I even see a thing_thing_arena 3.uzy on my desktop, what the hell o.O)

You should have that file location!

Click on your computer, then (local disk) C:\ > now Windows folder > now System32 > now 'Drivers' .... scroll down, until you find ajziw5ag.SYS

Everything is in alphabetical order, so no, it's not anywhere in that folder. I checked the subfolders too.

Okay, so I have checked the computer with full scan and a thorough scan. Nothing was found. I'm still wondering why I can't find this one file myself though...
