Upgrade Vista Home Premium to Ultimate or Windows 7

This might be a silly question, but I need some advice. I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit, and since the release of windows 7, the price of Vista Ultimate has dropped dramatically. My questions are these. What would be the benefit of upgrading to vista ultimate on a home PC or should I just upgrade to Windows 7?

    Upgraded the power supply to 600Watt, in order to get the Nvidia 8800 graphics card to run. And added 1GB of memory even through 32 bit Vista will not use it all.
I would go with 7.

Vista was never very popular. It would be my guess that support for the OS is ended as soon as possible, without any extensions.

7 has better security

Although mostly eye candy, 7 does have a lot of nice features.

Of course a question like this is very subjective, there is no right or wrong.

I would have to agree with richc46, the way to go is Windows 7, i love Vista, i think its a really good OS, but it is coming to the end of its life for updates and service packs.
Window 7 is definitely the way to go.

Vista is great.

Seven is great too - the differences are much over hyped.

If you are going to spend to upgrade , makes sense to go for Vista 2 ( Seven ) - unless there is huge price difference.

What extras come with Vista Ult that you would use?

IMO , if you do go for 7 , Pro is much better value than Ult.

I would like to thank you all for your timely responses. I guess the real question I have is, how is Win 7 for games? Back in 2007 when I first used Vista for the first time before SP1, I spent more time rebooting from lock-ups, and I still have games that ran perfectly on XP but laugh at Vista, now don’t get me wrong, I have grown fond of Vista, just like I did with XP. But now I get lost on a PC with XP. I have heard that Win 7 still has a lot of bugs that MS are working to fix. But if it was just a price issue Vista Ultimate wins hands down. But will I be able to change from 32 bit to 64 with Ultimate if my current Vista is 32. I know the benefits of 64, I have 4GB installed and am only using 3.2GB of it. I will go on the Sevens forum and read some of the issues. Thanks again with your help.

Vista was the test for 7. Vista took the problems, solved them and now Windows 7 is great with drivers and games.

Thank you, I can get Win 7 Pro for around $30 bucks, so 7 it is.
