acess administrator logon

I can't acess the administrator logon. When I try (with cmd/run as administrator) on startup I get a window (user account control) that says windows needs your permission to continue. It also says: to continue type an administrator password then click OK. But,There is no place that I can enter the password. Every thing I have tried has failed.

Why don't you try disabling UAC?

Before you do this, do you have an anti virus?

Try disabling it through control panel, and then reboot and you should get a warning about UAC being disabled but you can disable that if you want.

I tried doing that and I got the same window (user accound control) requiring a password. I have no where to put in a password. just like before

Hmm, thats strange.

When you said that you can't access the administrator logon, did you mean that you can't log on as the administrator? Or you just can't run programs as an administrator?

The administrator is not one of the options for logging on. I tried:
" net user administrator /active =:yes " while executing cmd in the start window
but I get an error. when I try to run cmd as an administrator i get the UAC window. There is password on the administrator account but there is no place to put the password in the UAC window.

Also the administrator is the only account that has administrative control

yes that sounds like the same thing. all of the accounts except the administrator has patental control on them except the administrator so when I try to go to that thread I can't see it. I am the only one on this computer. I set those parental controls on the accounts so my nephew can't view porn when he comes over. There are two accounts on the computer. all except the admin account have parental controls on them and all have passwords.

I also experienced this problem, but it was from editing my SAM file, by any chance have you modified your SAM file? Or could your nephew have?

when I type in "what is a SAM file" on internet explorer the parental controls keep me from viewing the page,

A SAM file is where the passwords are stored and it stores the information to what group the account belongs to.

Are you sure that you are the only administrator?

And can you run command prompt (it doesn't have to be elevated)?

My account is no longer a administrator. I took it off so he could not get on there and use the internet. It also has parental controls on it there is a deactivated guest account. But , it as well as the admin account is not visable at log in.

You could try a supposed flaw in the UAC, that I read on this forum:

But change the Task Name, to cmd
and change the program to run's directory to:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe

I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try. If the command prompt finally loads, then try to enable the hidden administrator account again.

I had this problem were I deleted all administrators and the UAC won't let you do anything to solve this You have to run your computer in safe mode with Commad prompt and then type

Code:

net user administrator /active:yes

now you can log off and run your computer normally then log on and now you should be able to create a new account and i recommend making this account an administrator

There is also an experimental tool to promote users into the administrators group (i think its group 20) by booting from a CD. However I wouldn't recommend this because its experimental and is likely to cause problems. You are welcome to try it if you want to take that risk though?

When I try to create the new task the task scheduler says the user account does not have permission to create this task
