Microsoft Office Document Imaging is running perfectly with one exception! I cannot open .mdi files by double clicking them. Although if I open the Office Tool first, then I can quite happily do a File Open sequence and use the .mdi file normally.
The .mdi file extension refuses to allow itself to be associated with mspview.exe (the correct executable file) - even when I try to do it via Default Progams using the built-in administrator account. No helpful error message - just no response (I AM able to associate .mdi with other (incorrect) exe files - so it seems to be mspview.exe that Vista has taken a dislike to for some reason.
It was working ok until I uninstalled MS Office 2003. I DID have both Office 2003 & 2007 installed - but the older version was redundant.
I see no reason why Vista should block this file association - unless I have a Registry issue potentially? (And yes - I have done several restarts)
I can of course do a System Restore (hopefully) but I wondered if anyone had any ideas why I'm having problems? Alternatively, I can re-install Office 2007 completely but that seems to be a bit of a sledgehammer approach.
Any thoughts gratefully received
Cheers
Alan
