Using TV with laptop is hosed

At first I had no problems for the last 4 months when I hooked up my new TV to my laptop. I didn't even change any graphic sttings. It worked great right out of the box. I am using a standard VGA-VGA cable.

Last week I hooked up my laptop to an old CRT display to do our taxes. I had to play with the graphic settiings for the CRT monitor to look OK.

Now, when I hook up the TV to the laptop, it only has the middle part of the screen showing the desktop. I have played with the Graphic settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get it to look like it did before with the wide screen....

Any help would be appreciated. I use it to watch streaming Netflix feeds and am starting to go crazy without them...

Have you tried system restore, restore to a point before you altered the display.

thanks for the suggestion, i just tryed system restore and it only had 2 points to go back to, 4/13 and 4/14......i had made the changes on 4/10, so i guess i can't go back that far ?

Try messing with the tv's settings not your computer's

after my wife went through everything that i had done, she came to the conculsion that there was NOTHING left to try with the computer so it HAD to be something with the TV.,.....i argued the point that that was impossible, becasue i didn't do anything to the TV......

so i just started pushing buttons on the TV remote.............

there is a button to toggle between widescreen and regular......

i hate it when she is right :)
