Computer hangs when logging into a user

I am having an app crash issue as of late that I am sure is probably posted somewhere else on this forum but I have not been able to locate the solution to my issue.

Here is what I am seeing:

What I believe is causing this is an add-on named Discuss which is enabled but lists no publisher. Not sure what this is for but it appears as a shdocvw.dll file as this matches the application version.

Any help would be great.

See if it's something that is trying to start when the PC is booted up and is causing the hang, maybe disabling it at startup will solve it; have a look at the tutorial at the link below to find out; be sure to keep us informed.

Thanks for responding however I now have a bigger snafu then I originally stated.

I let uniblue fix some reg errors and now I have no keyboard or mouse both are wireless.

So I hooked up my serial mouse and usb key board, the usb key board works but the mouse does not so I am unable to revert to my saved registry.

I am getting a serial keyborard so hopefuuly I can boot up and safemode to correct my issue.

Do you know if I can reboot with an OEM version of vista and repair the os if I need.

Never let anything scan and "repair" your PC, you're asking for big trouble.

I was able to use the OEM Vista disk to get back control of my computer, now I will remove Uniblue so I do not make the mistake of screwing up my registry again.

On the flip side the computer has not had a hang issue since going back in time, so for now I'll I can do is wait and see if it happens to me again. If i see the same signature I will disable it in add-on's first them systematically follow your procedure.

Here is a very good way to always have system restore points to use for what ever reason; have a look at thie tutorial at the first link below, after you decide to do it, get the zip file download to use for your Vista from "Option One" in the second tutorial; if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
