Vista Business 32 and HP Color LaserJet 2840

Struggling for a long time now. The scanner function of this multifunctional device is not working properly. Seems like the communication between the device and the computer is lost after a few scans have been done. Then either have to de-install and re-install software (hp_CLJ_2820-2840_Vista_Full_Solution) or re-start computer/device (may function). Then the scanner may function for a few scans (like 4-6). Anyone having any knowledge about this situation and what can be done to make the sanning function be stable.
Appreciate any ideas on this matter.

Already have the latest firmware/software.
Seems like the device software is de-installed or something happened to the registry. Some times when re-starting the computer the device drivers are being re-installed from their location on the computer. The whole thing seem very strange.
