OEM confusion

Hi,

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit OEM(not the royalty ones locked by DELL HP etc)

I want to install a New graphics Card and also 2GB RAM to my System.
An Extra HDD will be added by me later.

Now the question is that will I have to Activate Vista again after Installing the New Graphics Card and 2GB RAM?

Please Help me out.

That is not enough to require reactivation. You will not have a problem. I do wish you Good Luck with the computer changes. Whenever, making any changes to a computer make sure that you have everything backed up. If you do not already have it, Paragon Software has a great software product for back ups and it is free.

In fact, you should back up everything once a month and keep it on a separate hard drive.

Last question.

What is the interval of doing a 2nd activation?

For eg: 2 days/months etc.

If you just increase the memory and graphic card. You may not have to reactivate. You are not touching the OS, which is on your hard drive.

When you install the new HD, you will have 30 days. If you are still using the old one in a dual set up, you should be ok.

If you did need to reactivate, there may be a problem because of the OEM, but you will be able to straighten it out. If you have to speak to Microsoft you have to explain that it is the same computer. You may need to talk to them to reactivate.

Always remember with OEM you must stay on the same computer. You cannot change computers.

This cannot be used if the OS came preinstalled, but you said that it did not.
